I’m sure you’ve already heart it multiple times on the radio, but Shawn Mendes latest collaboration with famous producer Zedd, ‘Lost in Japan’ finally has a video.
Honestly, the fact that the video is finally out isn’t really what I wanna write about. I haven’t really had the chance to talk about how much I really enjoy this song and the meaning behind it.
I mean, really it’s a song about a person wanting to be closer to someone else but that other person is in another country or city – and I feel that our generation is going through that at this particular moment, falling in love or creating a connection with someone miles away from you.
Maybe it was a thing also back then, I’m sure of it. But in this day and age, with texting, phone calls and video chats, we can talk to anyone we want on the planet. We are no longer limited with falling in love with someone from our city.
Creating a connection with someone far from you is a great experience but it’s also very hard when it comes to making decisions or in general making sure that you’re not wasting your time – if that makes sense.
Anyways, Mendes’ new song is a fun one celebrating the millennial curse of craving someone far from you.
What do you think of the song? Let me know in the comments!
